Year 5 in World War 2!!

As part of our World War 2 topic, year 5 experienced a blacked out classroom yesterday and learnt about what to do in an air raid.

Today we were taken back in time to 1940s Norfolk as evacuees.

Identity cards were checked. Gas masks were worn.
Passing an unexploded bomb meant all needed to take cover!

 Children were inspected for cleanliness!

We practised putting on gas masks.

Some of us needed severe hair cuts!!!

Jobs were allocated as we waited to be billeted.
Digging for Victory.

Doing the washing.
Budding window cleaners (although they were made to do it twice!!)
 Shoe shiners!

 A soldier discusses his weapon.

 Emptying the chamber pots!

Making a rationed lunch. Spam anyone?

 On parade.
We had a fabulous day. What better than experiencing it first hand...... well almost!

Year 3 Visitor

Today we were very lucky to have Imogen visit us from Cromer Amazonia  Zoo. She told us all about her job as a Zoo Keeper. The children asked some great questions and learnt a lot. Many of our Year 3s have an ambition to work with animals so it was very informative for them. A massive thanks to Imogen for coming in.

Y6 Science Investigation

This term year 6 are learning about forces. As part of their investigation they had the task of making a boat from one piece of scrap paper and tape to hold as many paperclips as it can. The boats that were successful were ones with a large surface area. The most paperclips held was 500!

Rationing in year 5!

As part of our World War 2 topic, year 5 have been learning about rationing by baking buns with a difference. Parsnips and apples were used for sweetness instead of lots of sugar. The children agreed they were actually pretty tasty.

1st Best Effort of the Summer Term ☺

As usual we have lots of children working well and earning certificates and bookmarks ☺

Children from across the year groups had a variety of great work to show us too! ☺
